The Guards of honour at Reims, 13 March 1814 - Fine Art

The Battle of Reims took place on 13 March 1814, between French troops and Russian and Prussian troops, during the French Campaign of 1814. Here we see the 3rd Regiment of the Gardes d'Honneur passing through a Russian battery led by General Comte de Ségur, who appears in the background. They suffered heavy losses in the moments that followed. After the victory, these cavalrymen entered the city with Napoleon, at the head of the army, for their heroic conduct.
